In an epic turn of events and surprising move, Congress is writing legislation to replace the current national anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” with a variation Kid Rock’s “I Am American Badass.”
Some say it’s a genius marketing move to appeal to a younger generation, while others are outraged that the traditional anthem is being replaced.
Senator John Dice, who is co-sponsoring the bill, says “We believe that ‘I Am American Badass’ perfectly embodies the spirit of America. Kid Rock is a true patriot and the lyrics of the song celebrate the grit and determination of Americans everywhere.”
Critics, on the other hand, are unconvinced. “This is a complete disgrace,” says Mary Smith, a member of the American Legion. “The national anthem is a symbol of our country and has been for centuries. This is just another example of Congress not taking our traditions seriously.”
Despite the controversy, Kid Rock seems excited about the prospect of his song being selected. “Man, this is crazy. I always dreamed about jamming out at the Super Bowl and now my song could be the national anthem? That’s crazy!” he told reporters.
Only time will tell if the legislation passes, but for now, the debate rages on. Will America embrace “I Am American Badass” as its new anthem or will we stick with the original? Only time will tell.
